Important Note: DocketSage aggregates public court records. This policy governs how we handle your personal data as a user, as well as our approach to the public data we host.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways:

Information You Provide: This includes your email address if you create an account, and any queries or documents you upload for AI analysis.
Automated Logs: When you use our OpenSearch interface, we log metadata including IP addresses, browser types, and search queries to monitor system health and prevent abuse.

2. Public Court Records

DocketSage indexes public documents from the Connecticut Judicial Branch. While these are public records, we recognize the sensitivity of the data. We do not use this data for commercial advertising.

3. AI Processing & Third Parties

If you use our generative search or summarization features:

Your prompts and relevant snippets of court records are sent to third-party AI providers (e.g., Google Gemini) for processing.
We do not permit these providers to use your private search queries to train their public models.

4. Data Retention

We retain user search logs and account information for as long as necessary to provide the service and fulfill legal obligations. Public records remain indexed according to our data refresh cycle or until a valid removal request is processed.

5. Your Rights (CTDPA)

In accordance with the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal user data we hold about you. For inquiries regarding data removal from the index, please refer to our Redaction Policy in the Terms of Service.
